Tommy Nichols of Mount Airy took the elevation honors in the Folk Vocal category at 2017 Quondam Fiddlers Convention held over the weekend in Galax, Virginia.
One of the oldest and best-known such convention, the Galax event draws competitors from upwardly and down the Due east Coast — a few from other countries.
While Nichols was the but local person to take top honors in any category, a number of Mount Blusterous and Surry County surface area individuals and bands were recognized for their performances.
The winners of the event, sponsored past the Galax Moose Lodge #733, are as follows, with the winning deed and the person's or band'due south hometown listed.
